Kimberly - I'm about to be REALLY tired for the next week...
|Jun. 13th, 2009 02:18 am I'm about to be REALLY tired for the next week...|
Why am I about to be really tired? Because I have a FIVE DAY OLD PUPPY here, and he needs feeding every two hours, that's why!!!
I bet you all want pics? I bet you think I have them! Well ... I do! PLUS I have more photos of the five fosters I still have ... oh, and did I mention that puppy arrived with an extra bonus kitten. Well, he did!
Let's start from the beginning, though. Mr. Stripeypants and Monkeyboy both went to their new homes a few weeks ago, and Frankie also went to HER new home, at my sister's - yay for great rehomings! That left us with:
Miss M - champion napper:
Here she is with Stellaluna. The two of them go to their forever home (together!) on Sunday - yay!
And here she is, discovering the joys of coming downstairs and finding the cat tree! This tree came back with Kiwi, and they all LOVE it!
Stellaluna was especially helpful during finals week, when she helped David with physics:
They are NOT that helpful while painting, however! That's Scampi looking in dismay at the work of a young kitten. It didn't take long to find a small grey kitten with a bit of white paint between her paw pads:
The five who are left are awfully cuddly, and sweet. They like to trap me by going to sleep on my lap/between my legs:
Or worse - full body pinning:
There's something about us and baby animals, I guess. This baby stellar's jay, with a lame wing, hopped over to David out in the woods behind our house, while he was walking the dog. He came back with it cupped in his hands. We called the fabulous Lindsay's Wildlife Museum and found out we could take it there that very night. This was probably just as well:
Now that the kittens can free range over the whole house they have become experts at finding the afternoon sun spots. Here are Mimzy, Miss M, and Stellaluna enjoying the sun at the top of the stairs:
So that's where everything was until yesterday. Yesterday I got a long email from Amanda telling me a horrible story about how she ended up with this tiny teacup chihuahua puppy. He was the only survivor of his litter, and his mama died the night he was born. The circumstances that led to that makes me want to ... something... I'm glad to share with anyone who wants to know, but I know some people don't want to know, so I won't put it right here. Anyway - she wasn't expecting to have a bottle baby, and she's going away on vacation on Saturday, and can't take him. She asked me if I could PLEASE watch him for the week she's gone. This is the part of her email that got me:
He's REALLY cute, his name (right now) is Casanova, due to no fewer than THREE women kissing him (okay, giving him CPR) during his first half hour alive. A regular stud he is. He's black, brown, and white. Super cute.
Which comes to my point. This, was, obviously, not planned. And i leave for Mexico on Saturday. And they don't let me take puppies there. I don't know if you can, but you are my number one first choice to watch this puppy. I totally understand if you are busy, but I really don't trust anyone else like i trust you. And i LOVE this puppy. Love love love. And I'm going to worry about him the whole time. But i know you would do WHATEVER he needed.
He eats every two hours right now, but next week her can go to three hours. He comes with formula, a box, a heating pad, and TONS of cute. He acts like a little zombie, and he's super cute to watch eat. He eats well too.
Please let me know if you can watch him. I get back next Sunday, so it would be for a week. And I'll bribe you, I'm not above doing that. I'll take all your kittens when i come back and find them good homes. So you will be kitten-less.
Thank you SO much for considering this. I know it's a lot of work, but there's no one i trust more for this than you.
The kitten thing is more a threat than a bribe, not sure what she was thinking there... anyway, of course I said yes. When I talked to her last night, she then asked if she could throw in a kitten who was really tiny for his age (like, REALLY tiny) and didn't have anything obviously wrong other than he "keeps trying to die!" He hasn't now in about a week, so hopefully he's over that bad habit, but she wanted him watched over a bit more closely too. Of course I said yes to that, too.
So, without further ado, here is tiny Casanova, the puppy, having some dinner, while the kittens watch with interest:
and here is little Cheech. He's at least 7 or 8 weeks old, but is the size of about 4 or 5 weeks:
I was trying to get another pic of him, but Miss M wanted to check it out first:
There we go!
Stellaluna kind of likes the puppy. Panda goes NUTS over the puppy formula. She loves to lick it off his face, and also tries to steal the bottle. Pest!
Looky the face:
I love this one. Tiny little kitten holding onto the even tinier little puppy:
only about 1:30 'til the next feeding - I better get a little shuteye!
And here is an extra bonus snoozy kitten video. This is why I foster:

*is ded from cute, especially the kitten + puppy pic*
OMG! I just ...
from cuteness when I saw the kitten hugging the puppy.
I thought I was already dead from all the cutness you've shown us for the past 5 years but this one really did it.
See? This is what I mean about being absolutely evil. Showing me these new model kit-10s and K-9s, when all I've got are these old, used models. *G*
We luv da furrs. Thanks for pics, and thanks so much for all you do!!!
You do a wonderful thing. :)

Mom and I are moving in the next couple of months. Not sure how long he can be fostered before going to a forever home, but I will start working on her now. :-) We like little dogs, and I don't think they get much littler than teacup. heh.
You are amazing, Kimberly. Really.

the purring in the video sounds like small airplanes....
OMG! The kitten hugging the puppy! *swoon* *thud*
Damn you! ;)
Holy mother of Bob, the cute! Especially the pictures of the puppy with the kittens. How can you even function with that kind of cute around?
It looks like such a peaceable
kingdom catdom though I'm sure there are moments of intense drama.
The picture of the two littlest ones is adorable: "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" *g*

Is it bad that I can identify each of the cats by name...?
Awwwwwwwwwwww... it makes me want to snuggle my Christabelle (but I don't feel like an emergency room visit tonight :).
that puppy is sooo small! Will you make sure we get pics of him when he's bigger please? And that little kitty, do you think he was a preemie or something? I'm melted. Oh and I love the pic of Stellaluna and Miss M!
I'm so glad to see this post! Such quality cute. :D
Way, way too cute!
My boy is named Casanova, too. That's because he was the first one to climb out of the puppy box and he made a beeline for me. All he wanted to do was snuggle and love.
Here he is with his sisters at about 2 or three weeks old:
He's the one on the far left with the white stripe.
Oh. My. God. Kitten and puppy FTW. *melts*

I found your site through toocute.com, and I have to know...did the puppy and kitten stay together?
They DID actually! Amanda ended up keeping them both ;)
